My child is finishing 3rd grade and this school was great when she started in kindergarten but each year gets more and more disappointing. Uniform policy was put in place; it is not strict enough to deal with the socioeconomic issues yet does not allow for the children to be themselves. Voted on the policy every year until it was put in place and now we do not get to vote to have it removed. The classrooms are not grouped by "like learners" as some other schools are, so the poor teachers have to deal with children that learn at all different rates. The children are separated by class at recess, so they do not get to play with any friends that are not in their recess group. It is VERY disappointing and my child has gone from asking to go to school to not wanting to go at all. Many of the reasons we choiced into this school have been changed and it is saddening.

I love this school so much! My daughter has only being there for one year but they have made her feel part of the family and she made new friends during the first week. They promote good behavior by randomly giving kids BRE bucks that they could save and exchange for cool stuff. This keeps them motivated. The PTO is great creating a sense of community by having activities for the families. I love my daughter's teacher and the staff is wonderful. My second child will be attending VPK in this school next year.

Great school!! Mrs.rio is a great leader in our school. When making decisions she has the best interest of the children. We have a kindergartner and a 2nd grader and are very pleased!

We are changing and for the better! Great school, and now we have a new before and after school program that will be run by the school itself. Since a lot more moms have to work these days that is certainly wonderful that our kids would get the same care before and after as they do during the day. Good things are happening!!

There has been a marked improvement in every aspect of this school with the new principal. I have seen much improved morale amongst the staff and Ms. Rio is more open, yet more professional than the former principal. The only issue I still see, that I guess is unavoidable, is favoritism of certain teachers by the administration. The same teachers who have always been favored.

I have had kids at Braden River since 2004 and will be there for another 5 years. We have had our ups and downs with the economy. Many moms (volunteers) had to go back to work, money isn t thrown around anymore and times have changed. The one thing that hasn t changed at BRE is the AWESOME teachers!!! I have had a wide variety of different styles of teaching and they all turned out to be great for each one of my kids. I love our school and the neighborhood it s in. Our new principle is a breath of fresh air and has some great ideas to make our school #1!

I'm not happy with the way this school has changed over the past few years. Most of my child's teachers were wonderful, but I'm sensing a divide among the staff now. The principal seems to have his own agenda, with little regard for the teachers or parents. Several of my neighbors have pulled their children out and if things don't change, I will probably do the same.

I am very disappointed in the direction the school has taken. The principal has not demonstrated himself to be a leader, academically, ethically or morally. Teacher morale is at an all time low as is parent involvement. The attitude the principal demonstrates is 'my way or no way.' Unfortunately families are not transferring into our school they are transferring out. The attitude and character of the principal has left many asking for a change.

I cannot speak highly enough of the school and the principal. They have offered both my children an excellent education. They have dealt with issues quickly and professionally. The principal always makes himself available and does not show favoritism to pupils, parents or money they have paid into the PTO. My son really struggled when he first arrived in BRE. During the first 3 years he received an enormous amount of help and not once did I have to ask!! Thank you Braden River, for helping my son go from a F grade to a B grade.

I have been very disappointed in the leadership at the school since Dr. Fradley left. Many parents have choiced to attend the new charter school or other public sites. Academically the school has still maintained but with the loss of parents, assistant principal and staff due to the decreased enrollment, construction and lack of professionalism/ethics/communication from the principal leads to me question the future for our neighborhood school.

Education and academics are top notch at this school. Teachers are great! Don't know what the chatter is about the principal. Seems fine to me. They must have not gotten what they wanted. BRE is a great neighborhood school. The ranking speak to that. A school is not ranked on how may parents transfer out. Do know how many parents try to transfer their child in...? Alot! Because it's a great school. Because the academics/teachers are fantastic!

The teachers are all excellent, especially in Pre-K. However, I have nothing good to say about the principal. He is rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful (particulary to women).

Academic excellence at the school has decreased annually since the current principal has arrived. He has his own agenda and is constantly on the telephone. There does not seem to be a clear direction for staff- each teacher creates their own grading rubric which is not based on the SSS. Poor leadership has lead many parents to transfer their child which is sad because BRE used to be a great neighborhood school.

This is our first year at BRE. I have a preschooler and a kindergartener. We have been to several of the school activities already, and they've been wonderful. Everyone I've come in contact with, whether administration, other parents, teachers, has been very pleasant and eager to help. The parents are very involved and I love that. I've been to the SAC & PTO meeting and am looking forward to the next one!

The administration and teachers at this school have done a wonderful job nurturing my child. We have had a great experience and are looking forward to next year. Our entire family was invited to participate at various events. My son is academically challenged. The administration has gone out of their way to enhance the elementary experience. They have a wholistic approach. The principal and staff have done a fantastic job. There are many parent involvement activities. The school is safe and welcoming.
